Regular Labs GeoIP is a library / plugin that enables Joomla extensions to use GeoIP locating.
This library is required if you want to utilize the Geolocation condition rules in several Regular Labs extensions:
These Joomla extensions include condition rules for the following Geographical Location options:
- Continents
- Countries
- Regions / States
- Postal Codes (and ranges)
Please note: Geolocating is not always 100% accurate. The Geolocation is based on the IP address of the visitor. Not all IP addresses are fixed or known. Also, IP addresses can be spoofed.
The released GeoIP package does not include the GeoLite2 database. GeoIP downloads it from MaxMind during setup after you enter valid credentials.
The downloaded database uses GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.
